values of a globalised society. It must incorporate the question of peace and human rights,
environmental development, inter-cultural and developmental political education. ‘Global’ means
‘worldwide’ and ‘holistic’ at the same time.
The goal of ‘Global Learning’ is to recognise a global dimension in education and to be prepared for
action-orientation of a world-encompassing perception such as the mediator of future competences.
The ethical responsibility and the integration of inter-cultural aspects must become a model for the
sustainable development of activities within the framework of ‘Global Learning’.
The methods are holistic, inter-disciplinary, participatory and action-orientated learning. Learning should
become an action-orientated process, whereby it will feature itself through multidisciplinary cooperation
and to a high degree, through team work. Global Knowledge-Transfer through new medians will support
this development. Not only learning, but teachers too, will become global. Teacher Education must meet
the demands of a ‘globalised education & training’. New skills and abilities for both students and
teaching personnel should be supported. The teacher should, in this framework, take on the role of
Coach.
A holistic and transboundary education provides access to international opportunities, to inter-cultural
exchange, supports the democratisation process (Democracy living & learning), imparts tolerance and
in this way nurtures the base for Peace education.
